International Womens Day celebrations at DBCA

International Women’s Day was celebrated at Don Bosco College of Agriculture (DBCA), Sulcorna marked with expert talks, workshop on women empowerment and competitions, on March 8, 2021.

Special guest of honour, Government College Quepem, Asst Professor, Dr. Annie Gomes addressing the gathering, enlightened students on education and empowerment of womens. Special invitees and women enterpreuners, Vandana Gaonkar and Vrushali Velip, spoke on how entrepreneurship can change the lives of women. A short workshop on, the preparation of products from underutilized fruits was also held. Resource persons, Gaonkar and Velip taught the students how to prepare different products out of underutilised fruits such as bilimbi and carambola. The sessions ended with a variety competition on the theme, Underutilized Fruits of Goa and was judged by Sulochana Xete Dessai, Deepashri Naik, Jovina Fernandes and Meliza Fernandes.

Dr. Rachana Kolambkar, welcomed dignitaries and students and spoke on, women status with facts and findings in India. FY Student, Janice Fernandes gave talk on role of women in agriculture on the occasion.

Director DBCA, Fr. Allwyn D’souza, Principal, Dr. Suresh Kunkalikar were also present on the occasion. Kavita Pujari, Kruti Prabhu, Divyashree and Sai Krishna also spoke on the occasion. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Rachana Kolambkar and Dr. Gourish Karanjalker.
