The guides with the prison inmates

The auspicious day of Raksha Bandhan was celebrated on August 7, 2017 at Don Bosco Oros. As part of their celebration the Guides visited the nearby jail and tied rakhis to the prisoners there. Their aim was to strengthen the bond of love and to instill the virtues of respect and harmony.

Raksha Bandhan is a special occasion which celebrates the bond between brothers and sisters symbolized by the tying of a holy thread, ‘rakhi’ around the wrist of brothers. The Guides joined in this fraternal celebration, as they visited the prisoners and tied the rakhis on their wrist. Later the celebration continued as the girls tied the rakhi to the boys in school. The boys in turn promised to care, love and protect their rakhi sisters.
