Fr Francis Xavier, SDB
12 Mar 2018

Prayer is the direct expression of my love for God; prayer is what defines me, my life and my actions; prayer is a simple conversation with God about things that interest Him namely the poor, the suffering etc. were some of the thoughts and reflections at the day long seminar held on March 10, 2018 and March 12, 2018 on prayer by Fr. Jose Kuttianimattathil for the fathers and brothers of the Salesian Province of Panjim Konkan at Odxel and Benaulim respectively. The seminar held as delibration of the last Provincial Chapter began with moments of prayer and the introduction of the resource person by the provincial, Fr. Felix Fernandes.

The seminar explored the different aspects of prayer pepped with apt anecdotes from the lives of Mother Teresa, St Benedict, St. Teresa of Avila, Tony de Mello, Pope Francis etc. The morning sessions focused on the primacy of God, His call to follow Him and our response. The need to prayer should stem from the need to keep open our communication with the Father who calls us and sends us to be a sign and bearer of His love, therefore time spend in prayer is the source of our strength for our work as did Jesus who with drew from the crowds to a lonely place to pray said Fr. Jose.

Post lunch Fr. Jose focused on the person of Don Bosco and the role that prayer played in his life, clarifying his understanding of certain aspects such as work temperance and prayer. The day ended with Fr. Jose giving the participants a taste of praying the Word of God, Jesus prayer and prayer of praise.
