Shripad Naik releasing Jubilee Special Philatelic Cover

An air of nostalgia and festivity rang around the campus as Don Bosco Higher Secondary School Panjim celebrated Silver Memories, Golden Dreams, the Jubilee Cultural Day as part of the ongoing Silver Jubilee celebrations of the institution.

Honorable Minister of State for AYUSH, Shripad Naik graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Other dignitaries present were Guest of Honour Nicholas Fernandes, Provincial of Salesian Province of Panjim, Fr. Felix Fernandes, Rector Fr. Avin Carvalho, Principal Fr. Savio Gomes, Former Principal Fr. Paul D’Souza, Vice President of the PTA Sintia Costa Fernandes, retired teachers of the institution, and the executive members of the PTA.

The gathering was welcomed with a fusion dance showcasing the diverse folk dances of India, followed by the lighting of the traditional lamp by the dignitaries. Principal Fr. Savio Gomes welcomed the gathering.

The highlight of the evening was the release of the Jubilee Special Philatelic Cover by the minister Shripad Naik in the presence of Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Goa Division A. Koragappa, Yeshwant Gaunkar and Nilesh Pai who coordinated the momentous ceremony.

Students, alumni and parents put up a variety entertainment performance portraying the theme of national integration. A musical performance, It Weighs a Ton, touched hearts with its message of unity in diversity. An original play, Revisiting Swaraj - A tribute to the Mahatma was staged to exhort the present society to turn to peace and harmony, a fitting homage to the Father of the Nation on his 150th birth anniversary. A Jubilee Cultural Report was also presented on the occasion to note the multi-faceted progress achieved by the institution in academics, co-curricular activities and sports.

The evening also witnessed a student orchestra conducted by young maestro Samuel Fernandes with melodious renditions of Habanera, I will Follow Him and Taka Takata. The Past Pupils’ Band drew loud cheers, while the parents led the audience down memory lane with a nostalgic Goan presentation, encompassing traditional music and dance.

Acknowledging the dedicated service rendered by the institution in the field of education, Chief Guest Shri Shripad Naik congratulated the management on the well-organised silver jubilee programme. The memorable evening concluded with the vote of thanks by Josefa Pinto. The programme was anchored by Joana Souza Lobo and Andrew de Sousa.
