Don Bosco College of Agriculture, Sulcorna (DBCA) in collaboration with National Bank For Agriculture & Rural Development (NABARD), Panjim organized a seminar on, Goat rearing on March 13, 2020.
Around 30 local farmers from North and South Goa attended the seminar. Dr. V. S. Kavitkar made a detail presentation on goat management, feed management and housing structures. Later Dr. Haresh Agare organized a demonstration of the same to the participants at the DBCA goat unit. The farmers were very happy to see the goat unit managed by college.
Head, University of Agricultural Science, Raichur (UAS) Dr. Mahantesh Patil addressed the participants on the topic of Precision Farming which was also organized on the same day.
Director Fr. Allwyn D’Souza motivated the farmers to take up goat rearing as a good viable business option also because of the demand for mutton in Goa.
Dr. Suresh Kunkalikar welcomed the Guest Speaker Dr. Kavitkar, Livestock officer, Neli Sindhudurg, Maharashtra by offering a bouquet and memento on behalf of DBCA. Dr. Rakesh Kawale, Dr. Shreyas Jadhav and Mamta Udpikar welcomed the farmers. The booklet on goat rearing was also distributed to farmers. Dr. Harshal Wadtkar proposed vote of thanks to the participants and NABARD.
