Dept of BPeD organising Yoga Day at DBC Panjim

Don Bosco College, Panjim (DBC) celebrated International Day of Yoga on June 22, 2020. The Department of Physical Education organised a one-hour session for the faculty and staff of the college. Asst Professors Sachin Parsekar and Gautam Kankonkar led the small group of participants with enthusiasm and encouragement.

Yoga having originated in India and widely practiced by people all over the world. Yoga improves flexibility, increases muscle strength and tone, improves energy and vitality and even helps reduce weight explained Asst. Prof Sachin as he directed the participants through their asanas such as the Ustrasana, Adho Mukho Svanasana, Vrikshasana and Bhujangasana among many more. This was followed by a session of meditation.

What began as a difficult process for many with groans of effort and fumbling for balance, gradually ended up as a very successful workout. The faculty of the college were very appreciative and thanked the Department of Physical Education for the well organised session. The department in turn encouraged the staff to join them in more sessions throughout the year and reserve time for yoga and fitness for a healthy body and mind.
