Mechanical paddy transplantation demonstration at DBCA Sulcorna

Don Bosco College of Agriculture (DBCA), Sulcorna Goa held a demonstration cum paddy transplantation by means of a mechanical paddy transplanter by Fr George Quadros SDB at the DBCA agricultural research farm on August 3, 2020.

The government subsidized mechanical paddy cultivation demonstrated helped the locals understand its time and energy efficiency. Two acres of land was transplanted within a single day said Fr Quadros. Seedlings used for transplanting was Jyoti a short duration variety raised in trays of soil and compost over 12 to 15 days and ready for transplantation. There was no use of any chemical during nursery stage of rice crop, he added.

Director Fr. Allwyn D’Souza, Principal Dr. Suresh Kunkalikar, Dept. of Agronomy, Prof. Sanjay Nitave, Dept. of Soil Science, Prof. Satish Patil, Dept. of Agril. Botany, Dr. Prashant Patil, Dept. of Agril Engg., Dr. Vinod Atkari, Dept. of Plant Pathology, Dr. Narayan Gurav and college field staff were present on the occasion.
