Don Bosco College of Agriculture (DBCA), Sulcorna Goa, organized a webinar on, Floriculture to sustain farmers income amid pandemic on September 22, 2020.
Around 350 participants from the states of Goa, Maharashtra, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Meghalaya, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh actively participated in the webinar which was held in two sessions.
The first session was held by College of Horticulture, Mudigere, University of Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences, Shivmogga Karnataka, Dr. Nataraj S.K. He presented the many aspects of protected cultivation of flower crops. He also shared his experience of marketing and production of flowers in Goa.
The second session was held by College of Horticulture, Mysuru, University of Horticultural Sciences, Bagalkot, Dr. Kirtimala B. Naik. The Goan based floriculturist professor, explained how to grow anthuriums in polyhouses. The webinar proved to be of pragmatically beneficial for the students, entrepreneurs and farmers. Webinar was coordinated by Asst. Professor, Dept. of Horticulture, Dr. Gourish Karanjalker, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Agril. Economics, Dr. Rachana Kolambkar and Sulochana Xete Dessai. The concluding remarks were given by Dr. Gourish Karanjalker.
