On the occasion of 151st birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Eco Club of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School (DB HSS) Panjim, organized a webinar on the Conservation of Natural Wealth.

Guest Speaker, Dr. Manoj Borkar, a senior academician and a fellow of the Indian Academy of Environmental Sciences spoke on the topic, Are we the Owners or the Custodians of our Natural Wealth? Addressing the menace of over-exploitation of resource at an unsustainable pace, he reiterated that our Earth provides us with finite resources without restrictions on its use and humans have only been plundering and exhausting them irreversibly. Drawing inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. Borkar called for a change in attitude from being egocentric to eco-centric, to embrace a life-style of minimalism to prevent further degradation of the environment and its diminishing resources. He also laid down lines of action at personal level to reduce the menace.

This was followed by an interactive session that ignited the inquisitiveness of the student participants and strengthened their commitment to bringing about a change in this alarming scenario.

Principal, Fr. Savio Gomes on the occasion, informed the participants that Don Bosco HSS, Panjim has joined the Don Bosco Green Alliance, an international collective of young people committed to global environmental action, thought and policy.

Eco Club Teacher Co-ordinator, Jenifer L Godinho welcomed the speaker of the day and Eco Club Student Leader, Evanthika Pereira proposed the vote of thanks.
