DB Farm members celebrating Diwali

The staff of Don Bosco Farm, Sulcorna celebrated Diwali in a true spirit of festivities and competitions on November 12, 2020.

The purpose of celebrating the festival of Diwali was to educate the staff on the significance of Diwali and share in the joys of celebrating the festival of lights said Farm Manager, Fr Jacinto.

An akash divo making competition using either nature or by making us of waste materials was held for the workers on the occasion. As the workers competed with each other, the corridors of Don Bosco Sulcorna came came alive with their laughter and shouts, decorating the corridor with many colourful and unique akash divos.

A prayer service was conducted by Farm Manager, Fr. Jacinto Dias, and Cleric. Neil Fernandes. Wild cucumber was crushed to symbolize giving up the bitterness of our lives. The prayer service touched on the significance of Diwali, emphasizing the victory of good or evil, and the unifying factor of the festival of lights, Diwali. A small idol of Narkasura was also made and burnt on the occasion as each member of the farm placed small black paper cut hearts in the fire symbolizing their victory over evil. The celebration ended with the distribution of sweets and kulfi ice cream.
