Don Bosco College of Engineering (DBCE), Fatorda Goa through its Forum for Innovation Incubation Research and Entrepreneurship (FiiRE), a state of the art technology business incubator established with the support of Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, has taken initiatives to support startups in establishing innovation business from an idea stage to commercialization by assisting 75 startups over a period of two years of which, 45 were selected to be incubated with 30 startups being incubated in-house at FiiRE and the remaining 15 incubated virtually said Director DBCE, Fr Kinley D’Cruz at the press meet held to showcase FiiRE’s support to promote Aatma Nirbhar Bharat- Swayampurna Goa on February 13, 2021.

• Asier Solutions (OPC) Pvt Ltd (Sunaya Shirodkar) - DIY STEM kits designed to instill a passion for learning and creating
• Ulavan Agritech (OPC) Pvt Ltd (Tarun Krishnakumar) - A smart precision drone service provider for all types of agricultural crops
• LaFabrica Craft Pvt Ltd (Sachin Gangadharan) - Design intervention, paper bag that can carry upto 10 kilos
• Letcetra Agritech Pvt Ltd (Harish Usgaonker) - Online platform for all things related to urban farming
• Funminds Learning Tech Pvt Ltd (Suwarna Surlakar) - An education technology consulting firm which promotes tech-savvy schools and learn methodologies.
• Custom Elements Pvt Ltd (Arbaaz Mujawer, Wasim Shaikh) - A motorcycling enthusiast’s lifestyle brand that helps identify and sells the best brands of riding gears and accessories
• Rekise Marine Pvt Ltd (Maitrai Maka) - Autonomous, battery operated surveillance vehicle

Five startups have already filed patents, said Fr D’Cruz. DBCE under FiiRE has also being conducting various events to promote and support startups over the last few years, said Fr D’Cruz. Events such as VHAcK Hackathon, startups solving challenges centric to Goa Shipyard Limited. Intellectual Property Rights – Know your Patentability Potential, patent search to improve the chances of obtaining a patent registration. Idea Generation using Patent Information, that is using patent search methodology to understand lapsed patents and start new businesses. Helping Entrepreneurs Achieve and Thrive (HEAT) an event to connect startups with relevant technical and functional mentors, for scaling up. FiiRE Starter Kit that is, to use open Source kit for Startups to begin exploring their next big idea. Stademy Startup Competition, a flagship startup competition to help entrepreneurs set up joint ventures, with founders from other countries. Business Diva, to encouraging women entrepreneurs to implement & grow their business ideas. Investor Meet Demo Day, networking and pitching to investors for feedback, fund raise. Spark the FiiRE, an ideation bootcamp to inspire the next big startup idea from buddying students to potential entrepreneurs, he added.

Fr D’Cruz on the occasion, announced the flagship program of FiiRE, Developing Interior Villages Through Innovations (DIVTI), to promote entrepreneurship in rural areas, thus promoting the initiative of AatmaNirbhar Bharat - Swayampurna Goa.
