INP Zonal Youth Day 2021 at DB Sulcorna

Don Bosco Youth Services (DBYS), Salesian Province of Panjim (INP), organized the South Zonal Youth Day on March 21, at Don Bosco Sulcorna, Goa. Salesian youth groups from the south zone namely, Benaulim, Fatorda, Sulcorna, Quepem and Loutolim found their way to Don Bosco Sulcorna through the winding roads the terrain has to offer.

The eventful day began with, Rector of DB Sulcorna, Fr. Bernadinho Almeida celebrating the Holy Eucharist. Addressing the congregation in his sermon he spoke to the attentive youngsters about the Kinsugi art, a Japanese art form of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold or silver. Fr. Almeida passed around a reinstated pot and asked the youngsters to pour their brokenness into the pot.

After the spiritual nourishment and a cup of tea and snacks, the youngsters restore their physical selves. The Umberto Mascarenhas hall was a place of joy and enthusiasm as the youngsters stormed in for the activities. With the ice-breakers, youngsters were divided into 6 teams. As the youngsters got comfortable, Rector of DB Benaulim, Fr. Edison held a serious activity for the lively young minds. He led the youngsters to reflect on the lockdown and pen down opportunities and discouragements they faced. The youngsters wholeheartedly reflected which came about as a heart touching sharing that refreshed them. The first part of the day ended with some interesting faith related paper games.

After a refreshing and a symptoms vegetarian lunch, the excitement to return to the hall was increasing in anticipation to play treasure hunt. The digestion process was quickened with all the running around that finding the treasure entailed. The volunteers also conducted relay games to keep the score board ticking. The winning scores were announced by Frs Ralin and Tino, Sr. Pushpa did the honours of distributing the medals and the Trophies. With a streak of group selfies the day came to an end. As the youngsters moved towards the bus they had a cup of tea and some snack. The youngsters were hesitant to say adieus as they had an enjoyable day after the long time due to the lock-down and Covid restrictions.
