DBCE Holds National Level Event Thermofest 2021

Thermofest 2021 held at DBCE Goa

Don Bosco College of Engineering (DBCE) Fatorda, department of Mechanical Engineering in association with The Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE) Goa Chapter organized a One Day National Level Virtual Technical Event THERMOFEST 2021 on November 13, 2021.

Inaugurating the event Director DBCE, Father Kinley D’Cruz highlighted the importance of such events mentioning that it will bring students out of stage fear and improve their communication skills by providing an opportunity to learn in detail about a core subject which is a part of curriculum and develop effective presentation skills.
Principal DBCE, Dr Neena Panandikar, appreciated the efforts of ISHRAE DBCE Student Council Members and event coordinators for organizing the event. She thanked all the participants and the judges of the event for taking part in the event.
President, ISHARE Goa Chapter Professor Sunil Shetye spoke about value addition and added to the statements made by Father D’Cruz about being well versed with current and modern technologies. He also appreciated DBCE ISHARE student chapter for organizing the event.

THERMOFEST- 2021 started off with the paper presentation event. The theme was technical papers in the field of Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Heat Transfer, Renewable Energy Sources, Alternate fuels, Cryogenics etc. Participants from different states presented their papers on different topics such as Solar thermal Power Plants, Thermoacoustic Refrigeration, Vertical axis wind turbine design and Cooling Tower Design.
In the second event of poster presentation, the participants from different colleges presented their posters on projects, research, and innovative ideas. They were judged by Professor Vinod Kotebavi, department of mechanical engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Bangalore and Professor Mayur Shetty.

The first prize for virtual paper presentation was bagged by Akash Pawar from Don Bosco College of Engineering, Goa and the second prize was bagged by Deepak Kumar Kushwaha from Government Engineering College, Bhavnagar.
In the virtual poster competition event, first prize was secured by Bharath. H. R from Maharaja Institute of Institution, Mysore and second prize was bagged by Akash Pawar from Don Bosco College of Engineering, Goa

In the final virtual technical quiz event, 25 participants from different states participated. The three rounds were held on MCQ type, Image based and Problem solving. The winners, were Shikhare Akshay Prabhakar from Rajendra Mane College of Engineering secured the first prize and Jignesh Kumar Saroj from Government Engineering College Rajkot secured the second prize. The winners were presented with a cash prize and the certificate of merit.

Professor Ajit Salunke, head of department of mechanical engineering thanked ISHRAE Goa Chapter for their continuous support and encouragement in organizing the event. President, ISHRAE DBCE Student Chapter, Rajay Naik proposed the vote of thanks. The virtual inaugural ceremony was hosted by Bradely Rodrigues, final year student of mechanical engineering.
