Mormugao Pastpupils Hold Event for Vasco Youth

Winners of Lit with Mother Mary with Chief Guest and organisers at Vasco

Don Bosco Pastpupils, Mormugao unit successfully conducted an online event, Staying Lit with Mother Mary, for the youth of Vasco, Goa October 24, 2021.

The youth of Saint Andrews Church, Vasco were divided into four teams named after apparitions, Our Lady of Guadalupe, Our Lady of Laus, Our Lady of Pontmain and Our Lady of La Salette. Two events in online format of scavenger hunt and quiz was held and two events in off line format for big picture and reel competition was held.
Our Lady of Guadalupe team emerged the winners of the event with Our Lady of Laus coming in the second place.
The events were judged by Father Constantine Fernandes SDB, Brother James Marcus SDB and Assistant Parish Priest, Saint Andrews Parish, Vasco, Father Constancio.

Youth Director, Salesian Province of Panjim, Father Jason Coelho, spoke to the participants on the occasion and gave them an insight of the Youth Programmes conducted by Don Bosco. Father Constancio reteirated the importance of participating in such programme.

Prize distribution was in person at the Saint Andrew’s church hall. Parish Priest, Father Anthony Vaz, was the Chief Guest on the occasion and Assistant Parish Priest, Father Constancio, was the Guest of Honour and gave away the prizes.

Parish Priest, Father Anthony Vaz said, it was a very good initiative by the Don Bosco Pastpupils for the youngsters through which they came closer to Our Mother Mary and the Church. It was very challenging for the youngsters.

Father Constancio stated that he could see the enthusiasm in the participants and the pastpupils who worked very hard to get so much knowledge to be imparted through this competition. This event will surely help the parish youth to grow in holiness and participate in the Church activities better, he added.

The young participants expressed gratitude to the organisers and agreed it was a new experience, helped them make new friends and brought them closer to each other.

The event ended with the vote of Thanks by Secretary of Mormugao Pastpupils, Luis Fernandes.
