DBCE students at Vasco Port Connectivity Project

Civil Engineering Students of Don Bosco Engineering College, Fatorda accompanied by Professors. Oswyn Soares, Prachi Dessai and Akshata A.S Kudchadker visited Vasco Port Connectivity Project by Gammon Infrastructure Projects limited on September 28, 2019.

Project In-Charge Prakash Bramapurkar, and Ashwin Karkigave spoke to the visiting students on their road to success beginning from the construction of Gate Way of India in 1919. They also presented some of their notable constructions such as Cable Stayed Bridge in Sikkim, the Railway Tunnel in Maharashtra, the Nuclear Reactor in Kalpakkam and Zuari Bridge in Goa.

Project in-charges also instructed the students on the lengths of different parts in construction, type of foundations, construction of girders, construction sequence, site investigation, piles, piers, pier cap, deck sheet, slab, and water proofing.

Madhu Krishnan safety engineer with a video presentation on the map of NH17B road explained the safety precautions taken at the site under construction.

A guided tour by Ashwin, visit to the quality control lab, a demo of the Rapid Chloride Penetration Test (RCPT), used to assess the resistance of concrete to chloride ions was also done.
