Staff and students of DBCA at ICAR-CCARI Old Goa

First Year B.Sc. Agriculture students of Don Bosco College of Agriculture, Sulcorna, Quepem (DBCA) visited Indian Council of Agricultural Research - Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-CCARI) together with Dr. Gourish Karanjalker, Sanjay Nitave, Haresh Agare and Mamta Udpikar at Old Goa on October 15, 2019.

Technical officer ICAR-CCARI Edward Crasto, welcomed the students and explained about the functioning of the institute and its role in breeding, producing and disseminating agricultural technology in Goa. The students visited different horticultural and field crops, research trials on germ plasm evaluation, integrated farming systems, nursery management, bush pepper, arecanut, turmeric cultivation, cropping systems, ornamental plant collection etc. The students also had the opportunity to learn more about animals, different breeds of fish, poultry birds, rabbits, cattle and pigs.

The students also visited the agricultural meteorology/observatory of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, North Goa ICAR-CCARI and garner information on various instruments used in collecting weather data and interpreting the same.
