Talk on Use of Augmented Reality for Education held at DBCE

Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda (DBCE), Student Branch of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE), organized an expert talk on, Use of Augmented Reality for Engineering Education under the IETE Goa Chapter on October 16, 2019 at DBCE Seminar Hall.

The talk was delivered by CEO of Eduvance, Dr. Jonathan Joshi. Eduvance is a premier training centre based in Mumbai which trains engineering students and faculty. They have also launched an app to teach students using Augmented Reality (AR).

Dr. Jonathan Joshi explained what is AR and the difference between AR and virtual reality (VR). He spoke about the different modules associated in building an AR environment and also explained a few research gaps in the field of Augmented Reality. Dr. Joshi then spoke on how to use AR to deliver engineering education content with the example for Basic Electronics subject. He also gave faculty members DBCE pointers to look at platforms available where they can build their own AR apps such as EduvanAR, Builder, SketchUp etc. Finally he gave a demo of drone assembly using AR app developed by his company Eduvance. The day ended with a discussion on a Q&A session.
