DBCE students at ACC-RMC Plant

Civil Engineering students of Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda (DBCE), visited the Ready Mix Concrete (RMC) plant of ACC at Nessai on September 28, 2019.

Sales and Marketing Head, Rahul Gaonkar welcomed the students and briefed the visiting students about the founding of ACC. He described the research work done on various materials used in concrete to strengthen it. ACC RMC plants to date have covered the whole of Goa, at Kundaim, Nessai, Vasco and Dhargal he said. He explained the cost of production, maintenance of transit mixers at the plant etc. He also stated how they have introduced apps for the benefit of the customers who could track their order on their phone.

Students were given a guided tour of the RMC plant layout, and visited large silos containing separate cement and Ground Granulated Blast-furnace Slag (GGBS), aggregate bins used for storing fine and coarse aggregates. The students also saw the process of batching of the ingredients and how the ingredients were transferred to the central mixer where concrete is produced and later transferred to the transit mixer for delivery. Finally the students also visited the in - house Quality Control laboratory where concrete consistency is stringently maintained.
